The end of another year’s exhibition! Big thanks to our lovely guest artists (we really enjoyed your excellent company) our visitors (you came, you saw, you spent) and a special mention for our committee member who did so much to make this exhibition a success, even though her house move commitments meant she didn’t show her own work this year! Thanks everyone, you were spectacular! ❤️❤️❤️

Two more of our Tenterden Artists (who will be exhibiting with us in a week’s time) Vivien Oldfield and Cathy Hill, have something in common! Both ‘draw’ but in very different ways!
Vivien, being a photographer, draws with light. Her experimental images (often multi-layered) play with the medium in an arresting and almost abstract way. Cathy Hill is equally inventive in that her initial drawings are ‘invisible’! They are impressed into heavy paper using a fine sock-knitting needle, only becoming apparent when she applied the layers of colour to her compositions. Both need good light and both work in layers! Who’d have thought it! Do come and see their work, and that of 16 other artists at the end of next week! St Mildred’s Hall, Tenterden 25/26th October 10-5. We will be there to welcome you!

Shout-out to our 3D artists, and what a terrific line-up joining us in just over a week’s time! Julian Warrender is a jeweller who creates divine work in precious metals…who can resist? Sarah Bourne creates re-imagined and surreal sculptures from obsolete ceramic objects, often incorporating kintsugi whilst Dizzy Pragnell manipulates vegetable ‘papyrus’ into extraordinary objects. The surfaces of Tim Harker’s exquisite ceramics are embellished with crystals, grown within the glazes (a miraculous piece of alchemy) and Simon Guy creates (amongst other things) burnished ceramics, painted with fire and smoke. Lastly, Sue Fields has carved stoneware vessels which have a feeling of antiquity about them, plus figurative sculptures. Lots to see, so make a date of it and come and see us on the 25th/26th October! A warm welcome awaits you!

Tenterden Artists’ spotlight on our Painters! We love the breadth of styles, subject matter and materials used by this talented group!
Catherine Farr paints en plein aire, and in her studio to produce work celebrating the seasons, often in her favourite places. Anna Dickerson can be found painting anything from cityscapes to small creatures! We love her recent bees and amphibians! Lucy Farrington’s joyful landscapes are full of colour and intrigue, whilst Scarlett Woodman’s beautiful trees are painted and etched onto extraordinary materials like galvanised metal and copper. Polly Bennett creates her own pigments from natural earths and organic materials, using them to create her signature compositions, and lastly Ros Rowan paints vibrant work, often symbolic in character. We can’t wait to see what they have on offer at our autumn art show!
Check out our dates (25th and 26th October), and visit us! Like, follow, share and ‘favourite’ our posts. We want to spread the word far and wide!
