We are a group of likeminded individuals with a keen interest in the Second World War, specifically the US timeline of 1944 through to 1945. The group portrays the 237th Engineer Combat Battalion who were based in Shiphay, Torquay before embarkation onto the Normandy beaches in June 1944. Another year at Harrowbeer!

A good, steady day as always, with plenty going on. This year we had a slightly smaller camp and less equipment, but made up for it with more vehicles on display.

We headed out on the road run up to Princetown and finished the day with a Chinese, the perfect way to round things off.

We will be back at Harrowbeer tomorrow, so if you are around, come and say hello!

A great weekend at Torbay Steam Fair 2026 🎡🎢

Here are a selection of photographs from around our camp over the weekend, along with a few from Stoke Gabriel Carnival, which we were pleased to support after the show on Saturday evening. Representing the group were Peter, Jason, Justice, Jim, Chris R and Mike F with three of our Jeeps.

As part of the carnival procession, Jim rode in the trailer collecting donations from spectators around the village, raising a fantastic amount for local charities.

Although Friday was a little brisk, it gave us plenty of time to establish camp before a much busier Saturday. The event had a relaxed and friendly atmosphere throughout, making for an enjoyable weekend of living history.

Our thanks go to the organisers for all their hard work, and to everyone who stopped by our display to chat, ask questions and support the group. We look forward to returning again in the future.
