🚪 Just in time for the bank holiday weekend - we're thrilled to unveil a very special new addition to our museum!

This painted pine door came from 2 Polstead Road, Oxford - the childhood home of Thomas Edward Lawrence, better known to the world as 'Lawrence of Arabia'. Look closely and you can still make out the pencil marks where Ned and his siblings had their heights recorded as they grew up. The last mark belongs to his brother Arnold ('Arnie'), dated 26 June 1918.

The door is on long-term loan from the T.E. Lawrence Society, who also kindly supported its display. And if this has whetted your appetite — there's a whole T.E. Lawrence collection waiting for you around the corner!

Perfect bank holiday plans sorted. 😊

🏺 What an incredible afternoon at Wareham Library on Thursday!

Our Junior Archaeologist Half-Term Workshop was a massive success — we welcomed over 50 young explorers in just two hours! It was absolutely wonderful to see so many curious minds get hands-on with history, excavating replica bones and piecing together a human skeleton. Could you work out which bone goes where? 🦴

The energy in the room was fantastic, and it was a joy to watch so many young learners dig in, discover, and build — just like real archaeologists!

A huge thank you to everyone who made this event possible:

🎓 Bournemouth University Bournemouth University Department of Archaeology & Anthropology — thank you for loaning us your demonstrator bones. The kids absolutely loved them!

🔨 Wareham Area Men's Shed — thank you for building us the most brilliant replica coffin for the event. You really brought the archaeology to life!

📚 Wareham Library — as always, you were the most wonderful hosts. We are so grateful for your support and your space!

Keep an eye out for our next event — we can't wait to see you again! 🌟

A huge thank you to Helen Baggott for her wonderful talk on Wednesday afternoon — a fascinating and engaging insight into “Posted in the Past.” We’re so grateful to Helen for sharing her knowledge and bringing history to life for us all.

We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our wonderful guest speakers and everyone who has supported our Winter Lecture Series over the past ten weeks. It’s been fantastic to see so many people attending and engaging with our programme.

Thanks to your generosity, we have raised an incredible £1,067.87 in donations in total. These funds will go directly towards our new museum project, meaning every one of you has played a part in helping shape its future — something we truly appreciate.

Thank you all for your continued support 💛
