EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum is a state-of-the-art interactive experience located in the vaults of CHQ in Dublin's Docklands. Voted Europe's Leading Tourist Attraction 2019, 2020 & 2021 at World Travel Awards. It's located in the beautiful vaults of the 1820 Custom House Quarter building in Dublin’s Docklands, the original departure point for so many of Ireland’s emigrants. It will inspire and

guide you on a journey to discover the stories of Irish emigration around the world, from early times to the modern day. Over the centuries, some 10 million people have left the island of Ireland. At EPIC you can step through 20 themed galleries to find out why people left, see how they influenced the world they found, and experience the connection between their descendants and Ireland today. Immerse yourself in the stories of some of the most remarkable tales of sacrifice, endurance, adventure, and discovery the world has ever known. EPIC brings these amazing stories to life in a unique and spectacular way.

Our Famine pop-up series comes to a close this month, so don’t miss out on what has been a fantastic daily addition to the museum.

Our brilliant team go deeper into the cause and effects of The Great Hunger, and the serious consequences left behind by this dark period of Irish history.

These tours run three times a day at 12:15, 14:15 and 16:15 in the museum and are included with general admission. Book your tickets at the link in bio.

Dublin has a wealth of museums scattered across the city, focusing on topics such as literature, music, art, culture, and in our case, emigration. If you’ve been meaning to have a cultural day out for yourself, why not add these to the list?

A whole decade of EPIC 🎉

A decade ago, our founder Neville had a vision - to tell the story of Irish emigration and the global impact of the diaspora, and from that spark, something truly special was born.

To every member of staff, past and present, who shows up every day with passion, creativity, and heart: this milestone and indeed this museum couldn’t exist without you.

In honour of Famine Commemoration Month, we are hosting daily storytelling sessions within EPIC exploring the history and legacy of The Great Famine, or An Gorta Mór.

One of the most pivotal and devastating periods in Irish history, the Famine led to widespread suffering, loss, and mass emigration, shaping Ireland and the Irish diaspora for generations to come.

Through these sessions, visitors can gain a better understanding of this difficult time, and ask any questions that our knowledgeable staff would only be happy to answer.

Join us throughout May as we remember, reflect, and deepen our understanding of this defining chapter in the story of Irish emigration.

🎉 Last night, we celebrated 10 years of EPIC, with a very special return from Former President of Ireland Mary Robinson, who officially opened the museum back in 2016.

Joined by music from Niamh Bury and a brass band, the evening was a joyful celebration of the stories, people and memories that have shaped EPIC over the last decade.

Here’s to the next chapter.
