Tertius Gallery in the Stan Huygens Journaal of De Telegraaf 📰

We are proud to be featured in an article about TEFAF Maastricht in Dutch newspaper .nl.

The article also talks about our seminal 17th century masterpainting by Job Berckheyde portraying female art students. TEFAF remains a magnet for the world of art lovers, collectors and institutions.
Proud to be mentioned alongside partner Sander Bijl () and colleague Mark Smit ().
Always a privilege to be surrounded by museum quality, international energy and extraordinary encounters.
at its best: where stories, people and world-class art come together.

Today on AT5, as part of the annual overview of newly acquired works, Carel Willink’s “Portrait of Rik” was featured again - the joint acquisition by the Rijksmuseum and the Amsterdam Museum, made possible in part by TERTIUS GALLERY.

The acquisition had already been completed earlier, but moments like these once again highlight why it matters: a work like this is not just a painting, it is a presence. And now that presence belongs to the city’s public memory.

Grateful and proud that we at TERTIUS GALLERY were able to contribute to making this possible.

Yesterday’s grand sail-in of SAIL Amsterdam filled the IJ with towering masts and majestic ships — a once-in-a-decade spectacle.
And yet, after opening DIEK GROBLER’s exhibition this past Sunday, I couldn’t help but see them differently: fleeting visions of paper vessels, drifting out of memory and myth.

The real ships, magnificent in scale.
The painted fleet, quiet and dreamlike, sailing in and out of the subconscious.

Two worlds colliding on the same waters — one anchored in history, the other in imagination.

Paper Fleet: Myth and Memory Afloat by Diek Grobler is now on view at TERTIUS GALLERY, Prinsengracht 266.

Tomorrow the waters of Amsterdam will come alive. After ten long years, the tall ships return — proud silhouettes of canvas and wood gliding into the IJ. It is the legendary SAIL-in, when the world’s most beautiful sailing vessels gather to greet the city once more.

⚓️ This tradition began in 1975, a gift to Amsterdam for her 700th anniversary. What started as a celebration has become one of the world’s grandest nautical events — where history, craftsmanship, and imagination meet upon the waves.

🎨 Just around the corner from the harbor, at TERTIUS GALLERY, another fleet has taken form. In his exhibition ‘Paper Fleet – Myth and Memory Afloat’, South African artist DIEK GROBLER launches fragile vessels of paper into seas of color and memory. Created especially for this moment — for SAIL Amsterdam and the city’s 750th year — his gouache works echo the majesty of tomorrow’s tall ships, but whisper in a more intimate, philosophical tongue.

One such work, ‘Keeping up Appearances’ (2025, gouache on paper, 610 × 460 mm incl. frame), is part of this fleet. At once playful and profound, it carries paper boats across currents of myth and reflection — vessels as fragile as time itself.

Come and step ashore. Witness how a fleet of paper boats can hold as much wonder as a fleet of masts on the horizon.
