Framer Framed is a platform for contemporary art, visual culture and critical theory & practice. Each year the organisation puts on a variety of exhibitions in collaboration with international curators and artists, emerging as much as established, on topics such as identity politics, notions of 'the other' and historiographical propositions. Alongside exhibitions, an extensive public program is organised in order to shed different lights on the topics concerned. With this common space for dialogue, Framer Framed aims to show a plurality of voices in a globalised society.

Framer Framed started as a travelling initiative, to discuss the politics of representation and curatorial practices in the 21st century in the context of the Netherlands. We organised over 70 public events throughout the country and beyond, for and by people concerned with the museum sector. Together with visitors, source communities, museum professionals, artist, academics and other stakeholders we publicly staged critical exhibition readings; monitoring museum policy. Initial aim was to develop a contemporary, post-colonial, art historical discourse. Since opening the Framer Framed exhibition space in 2014, the focus has been on organising exhibitions and programs in our own space, implementing the knowledge acquired in our 'nomadic' years.
