Inspired by the geometric forms of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairie Style designs and the elegant Art Deco lighting of Walter Von Nessen, this handcrafted table lamp by Phillip Daniel Meyer celebrates the enduring beauty of early 20th-century American design. Designed in 2018, the lamp is crafted from premium quarter-sawn white oak with a rich fumed dark oak finish that highlights the natural character of the wood grain.

Bold architectural lines and refined proportions give the piece a quiet sophistication, while a softly illuminated 6-inch white globe provides warm, energy-efficient light. Though rooted in historic design traditions, the lamp is not a reproduction, but an original work that reflects Meyer’s unique artistic vision and dedication to craftsmanship.

We’re extending “Carl Powell: 50 Years of Glass & Photography” at Grovewood Gallery so you can experience it through our biannual Grovewood Village Studio Tour on May 2 & 3!

That means you can step inside Carl’s working studio and walk next door to see his full exhibition—a rare chance to experience the artist and his work side by side.

This retrospective celebrates the incredible career of Asheville artist Carl Powell, bringing together his evocative photography and innovative glass sculptures in one stunning showcase. His photographs capture a lifetime of observation, travel, and curiosity, while his glass pieces—known for their signature beveling techniques—transform light into mesmerizing, multi-dimensional forms.

✨ A longtime Grovewood Village artist (since 1999) and National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship recipient, Powell’s work invites you to slow down, look closer, and discover something new with every angle.

While the Estes-Winn Antique Car Museum and the Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum are typically closed January through March, we’re delighted to open both museums for a special three-day window during the National Arts & Crafts Conference, happening just across the street from us at the Omni Grove Park Inn. Join us February 20–22, from 10am to 5pm, for a rare chance to explore the museums during the winter season.

We’ll reopen for the year on April 1, but we hope you’ll take this opportunity to stop in, linger awhile, and enjoy something special while you’re in the neighborhood.
