Consider this your sign to make time for art.

Located in the heart of downtown Asheville, Momentum Gallery offers two levels of contemporary and modern work by emerging and mid-career artists along with some masters of their medium. From paintings and original prints to sculpture, and mixed media, each visit brings a new perspective.

Start with a walk through the gallery, stay for the artwork that makes you pause, and let the afternoon unfold from there. We’d love to welcome you in.

Two artists. Two distinct perspectives on the landscape.

Two Perspectives brings together North Carolina painters David Shingler and Danna Ray in a shared exploration of wilderness, atmosphere, and the changing rhythms of the natural world. From sweeping vistas and quiet creeks to shifting light across mountain landscapes, each artist captures nature in a way that feels deeply personal yet universally familiar.

While their approaches differ, the conversation between the works is what makes this exhibition so compelling. Loose brushwork, intuitive color, and a strong sense of movement invite viewers to experience these landscapes not just as places, but as moments felt in real time.

Due to an incredible response, Two Perspectives has been extended through June 27. We invite you to spend time with the exhibition and experience the work in person before it closes!

Step into the forest, then look a little closer.

In Crystalline Forest, Bradlee Shanks transforms woodland landscapes into richly layered dimensional serigraphs that blur the line between photography, painting, and sculpture. Built through dense layers of translucent and opaque ink, the works shift with light and perspective, revealing trees that feel both tangible and dreamlike, suspended somewhere between memory and place.

There’s a quiet stillness to these pieces, but also movement. Fog through branches. Reflections on water. Light caught in the landscape for just a moment longer.

Crystalline Forest is on view at Momentum Gallery through June 27. We invite you to experience the exhibition in person and spend time with these luminous works up close!

Painted in the moment.

Danna Ray works directly in the landscape, tracking light as it shifts, edges as they soften, and color as it changes moment by moment. Painted en plein air and from her studio in Western North Carolina, her work holds that sense of immediacy, something observed in real time rather than reconstructed later.

Hear what inspires her in this video, then come experience the paintings up close. On view at Momentum Gallery through May 2.

Hear what inspires the work, then see it up close.

David Shingler’s exhibition is on view at Momentum Gallery through May 2. Painting in oil on hand-built wood panels, Shingler draws from wild landscapes, places where light, terrain, and atmosphere feel in motion. His background in sculpture and glass informs the work, giving each piece a sense of depth and kinetic energy that pulls you in.

It’s the kind of work that reveals itself over time, in scale, surface, and detail. We invite you to experience the exhibition in person at Momentum Gallery!
