Hope you can come see our youth shine in this fantastic group show at MICA and hear our 901 drumline perform at the opening festival! Here are some sweet pics from us at it last year 🤩
You don't want to miss this as it is the *last year* this festival and show will happen 😢 After 20 years in partnership with the Community Art Collaborative (CAC's founding is entwined with ours), MICA has decided to close the program at the end of the term (Aug 14th) despite being award another year by the Federal government (so won't be accepting those funds). Yet again this will leave us an art center with no art teacher, scrambling to figure out how to fund an art teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. We haven't received any explanation from MICA as to why they are choosing not to continue the program. A truly devastating loss to so many youth of Baltimore, the Baltimore community arts scene and the truly unique MFA in Community Arts program at MICA that partnered with CAC. Your support at this time is truly valued, appreciated and needed.

Come see artwork made by 901 Arts youth alongside seven other orgs at the Community Art & Service Art Exhibition and Festival, this Wed. April 22nd 2-4:30PM. Enjoy a family-style Nacho bar, lemon sticks, cake, and other treats as you visit the different activity stations, meet and learn what the various groups do, and view the artwork. Can’t make the festival but still want to see the work? The show is up now through the 27th.

901 Arts is excited to partner with You Deserve the Earth as host site for an arts workshop in honor of Earth Day. The workshop is open to anyone, you do not need to be a 901 Arts participant to attend. Please see flyer for more info!

Check it out! 901 Arts and our Program Manager, Megan Livingston, are featured in Cultivate, Good Harvest’s newsletter, this month. Good Harvest is the vendor we partner with to receive free after-school snacks and supper we serve daily. Thank you Good Harvest and a special shout out to our delivery driver, Drew and our contacts, Darian and Marletha at Good Harvest and our staff Megan, Jalen, Siré, Sarah and Karen for helping receive, serve, and take care of the various tasks associated with this partnership!

We are very excited to introduce our newest interns, Camila Ramirez and Karen Izaguirre! They join us through the In Community Intern program, an initiative of the Center for Social Concern at Johns Hopkins University that places students with community-based organizations. We are thrilled to welcome them to our team. Here are their introductions:

Hi! My name is Camila, and I am a first-generation college student at Johns Hopkins University majoring in Medicine, Science, and the Humanities. I am from Houston, Texas and I am now an intern here at 901 Arts mainly because of my interest in the arts and crafts like crocheting and drawing but also because I wanted to engage more in the Baltimore community.

Hi! My name is Karen, I am a first-generation college student attending Johns Hopkins, where I study Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. I am from Edinburg, Texas and I am so excited to be part of 901 Arts as an intern and to get to know all the amazing kids here! I love interacting with them and working alongside the wonderful staff.
