Our Liberty Tree sapling and its documentation arrived safely in the first week of April, and it has been steadily growing ever since. We are thrilled to nurture this living symbol of Maryland’s heritage as part of the MD250 commemoration.
Rackliffe House stood along the Sinepuxent Bay during the Revolutionary era, and welcoming a Liberty Tree to the property feels especially meaningful as we honor the stories, landscapes, and people who shaped Maryland’s early history.
We invite you to join us on May 18 at 4:00 PM as Rackliffe House plants its Liberty Tree. In celebration of the planting — and International Museum Day — the house will be open for free tours from 2–5 PM.
Our deepest thanks to Assateague State Park, the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, and the Maryland Forestry Department for making this project possible. This tree will stand as a lasting tribute to our shared past and the generations who will learn from it.
