Maxwell Street Foundation

Maxwell Street Foundation Preserves and interprets the history of Chicago's Maxwell Street.

The Foundation supports the continuance of the New Maxwell Street Market, and hopes to help facilitate programs and exhibitions dedicated to the history of Maxwell Street as a Chicago portal for immigrants, migrants, entrepreneurs, and the Chicago Blues.

A reminder to show up this coming Sunday for the kickoff of the Maxwell Street Market on 5/17 from 10 am to 3 pm. The Maxwell Street Foundation will be there to chat and sell our wares, and please stop by Jim's Original to eat before it has to move at the end of June.

The next Market day is June 7th, during Bluesfest and there will be a shuttle going periodically between Bluesfest and the Market on that day!

Please show up to eat at Jim's Original before they are forced to move away from the Maxwell Street Market area, and show up in the fall to their new location in Pilsen on 18th Street.

The famous restaurant that's been in business since 1939 is moving to 18th Street to make way for a University of Illinois Chicago building project.
