It's FRIDAY Y'ALL : the Scientifically proven best day to and we've got ya covered.

In my opinion, being comfortable collecting artwork is all about transparency and options.

Seeing prices clearly marked on the wall and online. As opposed to requesting a PDF (yes, many galleries do that).

Having different sizes and price points.

Offering payment plans.

Showing original work in the $400-800 range.

So, boom. So, let's dance.

Today marks the first day of 13 years of Chicago Truborn, and the first day of Anthony Lewellen's THIRD solo exhibition here.

It seems fitting, then, that the first piece I’m sharing is a home floating, reflecting, in water.

There’s something about Anthony’s work that has always felt like home to me. And probably to you, as well.

Maybe it’s because we've been enjoying it for decades. He's one of Chicago's most prolific and long-standing contemporary artists.

I’ve shown his work for years, watched it evolve, watched him pull ideas from the world around him and turn the most ordinary things into something distinctly his own.

A streetlamp. A puddle. A house.

Things you might walk past every day without giving much thought. But Anthony has a way of making you stop and look at them differently.
And maybe that's also why his work feels so familiar.

Not because he paints some idealized version of Chicago, but because he finds beauty in the things we already know. The things that make up the visual vocabulary of a city, our city! And, eventually, the visual vocabulary of our own lives.

It's a face to call home. 🏠

We're open 12-6 all week with EXTENDED HOURS this Friday 12-8 pm and all pieces are now live online as well.

Today we celebrate 13 YEARS OF CHICAGO TRUBORN. It's my business bat mitzvah!! I have so many more memories I'd love to share, my phone is just full of photos...

From hosting my dad's 80th birthday to countless engagements and other special occasions, packed shows, excited collectors, art walks, renovations, gallery takeovers, every single memory begins with YOU.

You guys are the only reason this small business still exists. Without your support, all our efforts would only go so far. THANK YOU.

Being a part of the West Town Chicago community is something I value and hold near to my heart. All the friendly faces I've come to know over the years. The folks who pop in to check on me every so often. Play catch up.

I know your stories and you know mine... I've watched your kids grow up! You've watched me grow up!

I can't wait to celebrate with you all today and honor not just the work I've poured into this gallery and community but the lifelong practice of Chicago Icon Anthony Lewellen

He is an Indelible part of Chicago art history and my story as well. It is so unbelievably special to share this occasion with him.

He's given this show absolutely everything. Blood sweat and tears. I am SO PROUD to know and work with Anthony. This is his 3rd solo show here!!

I'm sure every generation says this but MAN what a time to be alive.

Thirteen was pure innocence and harmless fun. Carefree days riding bikes and blockbuster nights.

Now my business turns 13 and I hope to bring some of that same energy into Chicago Truborn's programming this year.

As we age, life feels shorter and more precious by the day so let's have some FUN while we still can. More color, more laughs, more love, MORE LIFE.

Since we're strolling down memory lane in honor of Chicago Truborn turning 13 on Saturday...

Let's roll it back to October 2020...to another BIG WALL w Anthony Lewellen

Just a few months into the pandemic. This was without a doubt one of the lowest points in my life and this project kept me afloat.

A wall this size required months of planning and logistics and it was finally GO TIME.

Seeing this come together was pure magic. In a time when we'd all been isolated for months Anthony Lewellen gave us a reason to smile and to exist outside!!

A new 6 story mural popping up in Uptown was as unexpected as it was appreciated amongst neighbors. For a few days, we all had something else to watch and focus on.

From the Scott " Lewellen, who describes himself as an “urban imagist,” says he has seen a cormorant in a wetland reserve near his home and studio in North Mayfair and was drawn to it “aesthetically.” He says he included the traffic light to create “an overlap between nature and the urban environment. It kind of just ties in these two things that I feel like I’m kind of always wrestling with.” '

And that is the perfect segue into Anthony's work and thought process. As an artist and someone whose work has continued to evolve alongside the city around him, ANTCK's paintings occupy that strange and wonderful space between familiar and surreal.

Recognizable pieces of Chicago, memory, culture and everyday life filtered through his own visual language. That's what you can expect at the opening of his solo show "Various Work" opening this Saturday from 2-6 pm

TEN YEARS LATER we've arrived at yet another milestone. This small business, this one woman operation, your favorite lil gallery, a West Town staple, is turning THIRTEEN.

Lucky number 13 - the best is yet to come and I know this because when I look around me, I'm inspired and uplifted.

Anthony Lewellen and I have collaborated on Countless projects since then. Murals for Chicago Fire FC, Heineken, Chicago Bears, West Town Chicago, Albany Park Chamber of Commerce, Uptown Chicago and many more... design work for all types of private projects including Setna iO to Edelson PC and just a fewwwww solo shows peppered in between.

He's an icon in the graffiti and Chicago art history - I've always had a bit of imposter syndrome when it comes to working together but he's always treated me as an equal. I learn from him on every project and his attention to detail truly motivates me to keep pushing myself to be better and better.

I'm honored and VERY EXCITED to open up this show alongside Anthony Lewellen and all of you. I can't wait to see you all this Saturday for the opening of "Various Work" from 2-6pm

For a real good time!!!

I just can't tell you how much it means to me to have this opportunity. They're a band beyond description. So, like, where or how does one even begin to honor them?!

Well the answer is, one does not! Rather, we do it together. 22 artists made this show what it was and I will never forget all love and attention they poured into their work to make this show so special.

To my usual collectors who maybe didn't quite know what to make of this, thank you for opening your hearts and minds to something new. Thank you for your curiosity and for allowing me to crack open that doorway to who I am and what I love outside of the gallery.

Being able to pull that INTO the gallery felt especially meaningful on so many levels.

Pickups are now officially open and shipping will begin Monday.

There are still pieces that are in need of new homes and I urge you to check out the website while they're still here. Support living artists!!
