A Camera Club in Orange/Beaumont Texas area is needing a judge for their portrait competition in early November and they have reached out to DPPA to see if we have anyone who is willing to help out. They typically have around 30 entries and the judging is done online through Visual Pursuits. You would have a few days to do the judging, via a point system and give feedback. Hey DPPA! Got photo gear you are ready to part with or want to shop to see what needs to go home with you? Our annual Swap Meet is this Tuesday, September 8 at 5:30 pm just before our Monthly Meeting.

Then, on September 9, take your photography to the next level with a full-day workshop featuring David Downs presenting The Art of Black and White Photography

David Downs is a Master Photographer, Photographic Craftsman, and Certified Professional Photographer with more than 14 years of professional experience. He’ll take you beyond simply converting a color image to black and white and explore the creative vision, techniques, and artistry that make monochrome photography truly compelling.

Whether you're passionate about portraits, landscapes, street photography, or simply want to strengthen your creative eye, this is a workshop you won't want to miss.

📍 Start at Dallas Museum of Art

We’ll kick things off inside the Dallas Museum of Art, taking advantage of an hour of FREE admission + air conditioning before the museum closes at 5:00! 😎📷

Important: Admission is free, but you do need to register for a free ticket in advance.

After the museum closes, we’ll head outside and make our way through the Dallas Design District, looking for interesting architecture, details, light, lines, and whatever else catches our photographic eye.

🌆 Then we’ll finish the evening at Klyde Warren Park, where we can relax, enjoy the evening atmosphere, check out the food trucks, grab something to eat, and keep photographing as the light changes.

Come for the photography. Stay for the fun!

No matter what you shoot—camera or phone, landscape or street, serious photographer or just looking for a fun way to spend Saturday—we’d love to have you join us!
