Another orphaned painting from the studio walls has literally flown the coop to Portland. When one of your longest girlfriends, who holds some of your dearest childhood memories messages she has to have a piece of the chapter before it closes. That piece she saw during our 24 hour visit when she flew in for dinner just because it had been too long!! I pause to thank all the people who supported my crazy dream over the past 16 years, every brush stroke, project, workshop, lecture, kids camp was given because you believed in me with me. I commit to everyone who believed in me I will continue to use my gifts and talents to inspire!! “Bottled Up” 12x8 acrylic on canvas circa 2013

I’ve sat with this piece for months in curiosity of what last strokes it needs for completion. I let it rest in the studio storefront window during my contemplation. Surprised when our dog walking friend Queen called to announce she had been also, during those months of my contemplation, been admiring the piece. Ironically what I saw was incomplete she saw as fully formed and wonderful!!! Reminding me how we all have our own unique perspective of how we see. Now I know the piece was finished just waiting for its new home!! “Kick It When Your Down” 24x48 Acrylic & Ink on canvas. SOLD!!

An amazing woman reaches out after passing my studio during her daily dog walks. She shares how she has fallen in love with one of my projects which I also have cherished. To a normal eye an old mannequin but to me it was a the canvas I used when hired by FWISD Art Dept. to work with Highschool students on the conflicts young people face during the undulating teenage years. Body image, personal empowerment, feeling weird, peer acceptance, individuality, on and on…until we embrace our one self and boldly express our authentic gifts. My dog walking friend Queen fell in love with “I Am All” sculpture and now she has found a home where she will be celebrated as she reminds those who view her of the powerful messages she expresses!! I’m always amazed when the owner of the work I created reveals themselves. I love that this piece of my work has brought so much joy to someone else!! This project was a collaboration project with FWISD student artist!!

Another chapter completing…closing up my studio at 2959 gains visits from clients and dearest of supportive friends. dropped in to bring joy to the daunting task upon me…sifting through 10 years of being the resident artist at West 7th. She fell in love and took home “Malleable”!!! After she left, I searched my records for its title and the origin of its inspiration. My notes lifted on the pages to speak so loudly to my tender heart….Malleable-extended or reshaped without breaking!! I’ll be here through April for anyone else who wants to drop in for a hug, handshake or handmade something original!! 😘😘😘
