Over the years, the Hennepin County Poor Farm was home to hundreds of poor, disabled and unhoused residents which were previously supported by Hennepin County in private homes. The farm went through many iterations over the years. The building was razed and was sold to developers where new homes were added to the Park Valley neighborhood.

Hello Friends! We are in need of a Volunteer Newsletter Publisher to help us publish and print our newsletter, The Hopkins News.

We have great writers with stories ready to go, and we need some help with the formatting, PDF creation and printing of our newsletter. The Hopkins News goes out quarterly via mail and email.

Please note, this an unpaid volunteer position. We estimate the time commitment to be about 4-5 hours a quarter.

In the 1940's, card tables were sold in Hopkins to raise money. The tables listed businesses that paid to appear on the tables. Would you like to own one of these card tables? We have 4 available that are duplicates to those we have in our collection that we are auctioning off as a fundraiser for our museum. Each has slightly different businesses on their tops. Stop by the museum Thursdays (10am-1pm or Saturdays (10am-noon) and bid on a table. Winners will be notified in October.

You may be familiar with the mural entitled THE CULTIVATION OF RASPBERRIES that was rescued from the 1935 Hopkins Post Office by two founding members of the Hopkins Historical Society, before it was demolished in 1972. This is a photo of our official copy of the mural, and a photo of the poster in our museum that tells the story of that rescue.

The original mural, having been conserved by the Wiseman Art Gallery, now hangs in Washington, DC, in the office of Senator Amy Klobuchar. Come to the museum to see the mural in its entirety - it's magnificent!
