"Platitudes of Color, Forms of Energy": Paintings by Thierry Taule at 510 Warren Street Gallery until February 1.
An emerging artist deeply influenced by a childhood spent amidst expansive landscapes and beautiful estates, channels his lifelong fascination with aesthetics and nature into his vibrant abstract paintings. For Thierry, art represents a personal odyssey of self-expression, striking a delicate balance between control and spontaneity, adult deliberation, and childlike intuition. Grounded in post-war and contemporary art influences, his creations evoke a wide spectrum of emotions, from joy to melancholy, aiming to stir personal memories and provoke individual emotional responses.
Thaule’s connection to nature profoundly informs his artistic process. Outside the studio, he finds solace and inspiration in gardening and the natural world, elements that infuse his artwork with a profound sense of harmony and beauty. This deep bond with nature is evident in the organic forms and vibrant colors that characterize his pieces, inviting viewers to explore the intrinsic link between the natural environment and human emotion.
Thierry J. Taule, born in the USA to French parents, is a versatile artist from Danbury, CT, based in Latham, NY. With a background in geography and atmospheric sciences from the State University of New York, his art is inspired by natural beauty and phenomena, such as lush gardens or the erosive process of materials uncovering their structural past. A self-taught artist, Taule’s creative journey began when he encountered Helen Frankenthaler at age 16, whose art and personality left an indelible mark on him. While initially inspired by her work, he developed his distinctive style, after a long period of exploration, using a mix of acrylic, latex, and found objects. Recently, he began a series of works made of clear glue and dye crystals. Taule's work explores colors, shapes, and textures, aiming to evoke a spectrum of emotions. His unique approach celebrates the hidden beauty in mechanical parts, offering viewers a glimpse into his creative journey and the joy of artistic freedom.
