Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville is an innovative model in regional children’s museums developed by Discovery Place, Inc. The Museum gives young children opportunities to play, create and learn through developmentally appropriate experiences that encourage imagination, curiosity and skill-building. Museum Memberships provide exclusive access and benefits, including admission, events and special Member hours, 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Stomp, chomp, and roar into September at Discovery Place Kids–Huntersville – it’s Dino Days! 🦖

All month long, young dino lovers can dig into hands-on activities like Feasts for Beasts (herbivore or carnivore, you decide), Migration Station (calling all dino engineers!) and Dino Blues sun prints.

Plus, don’t miss Cretaceous Create, our daily featured program where children build their own recycled dinosaur – rainbow T. rexes and yellow-winged velociraptors are welcome.

All activities are free with admission. Plan your visit and let the prehistoric fun begin!

Our water tables are all splash zone meets science zone. 💦

This exhibit invites children to create a dam, redirect the flow and watch what happens when water meets imagination – no umbrella required (but waterproof smocks are provided!).

Pop the hood, we’ve got work to do. 🚗

Our car repair shop exhibit lets children roll up their sleeves as mechanics – tightening bolts, checking under the hood and figuring out what’s making that funny noise. Real imagination, real teamwork, zero grease stains guaranteed.

Our I CAN CREATE station is always bursting at the seams with unique and innovative works of art from our littlest visitors. 🎨 This week, we combined those projects to create a big piece of community artwork. Visited recently? See if you can spot your kiddo’s creations! 👀

This month’s theme is Drama, and our community mural is where all the feelings live.

Children pull an emotions card, then draw themselves (or a character all their own) right into the mural – happy, grumpy, surprised, all of it welcome. By the end of August it’ll be a full cast of characters, one frame at a time.

Stop by all month to add your child’s portrait to the mural and watch it grow!

🛒 Whether they’re picking up ingredients to cook over in our play restaurant, or learning about different kinds of grains up-close, children love our Town Market.

With interactive checkouts, shopping carts and even a tiny test kitchen, this exhibit has something for every kiddo – ages 2-3 generally push carts, while ages 4-7 interact with stock, checkout and other displays. Big feelings before the big first day? We've got you! 💜

Countdown to Kindergarten is our FREE annual event built to help rising kindergarteners walk into their first day feeling ready and confident.

Children will get hands-on practice with lunchroom routines, build key kindergarten readiness skills and dance out the jitters at our Back to School Big Fun Dance Party.
