🦖 One more roar before summer! 🦖

Join us this week for our final Museum Munchkins program before we take a break for the summer, and we're ending the season with one of the most famous dinosaurs of all time: T. rex!

Little learners will discover fun facts, enjoy hands-on activities, and explore the world of the "tyrant lizard king" through stories and play. It's the perfect way to wrap up a dino-mite season of Museum Munchkins.

We can't wait to see you before we head into our summer adventures!

Happy National Wisconsin Day! 🧀

Today we’re celebrating the Badger State with Wisconsin-inspired whimsy from Bill Reid’s '50 States of Mind exhibition'. Through colorful steel sculptures, clever wordplay, and playful twists on state identity, Reid reimagines the places that make America unique - including Wisconsin!

Part road trip, part art exhibition, and part satire, 50 States of Mind invites visitors to see the country through a more imaginative lens. As writer Stacey Williams-Ng once said, “Bill Reid is to sculpture what Dr. Seuss is to children’s books.”

Stop by and see where creativity - and a little Wisconsin pride - can take you!

Take a look at these stunning Kintsugi pieces by artist Mami Takahashi, now on display in the 2nd floor case at the Museum. ✨

Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery in a way that highlights its fractures and history rather than hiding them, embracing repair and continued use as part of an object’s story.

Inspired by these beautiful works? You can learn the art of Kintsugi yourself in our upcoming summer workshop with Mami Takahashi!

Dig into Kenosha’s prehistoric past this Saturday at our Family Fossil Hunt! 🦴🌊

Join Nick Wiersum from the Dinosaur Discovery Museum as we explore the fossils hidden along Kenosha’s lakeshore. Start at the Kenosha Public Museum to learn about the ancient creatures that once lived here, how fossils are formed, and tips for spotting them. Then, we’ll head to the Simmons Island Beach House to search for fossils of your own!

The Museum will provide all the tools you’ll need, including a collection bag, fossil guide, and magnifying glass. Participants are responsible for their own transportation between locations.

Who knows what prehistoric treasures you’ll discover?
