Robert Troup was an Ohio-based furniture maker and craftsman known for producing fine handcrafted wood furnishings in the mid-to-late 20th century. His work reflected the regional tradition of solid-wood furniture making that emphasized precision joinery, durable hardwoods, and a balance between utility and artistry.

Don’t forget, Robert will be in the galleries this weekend as part of our “Artists in the Galleries” series. Stop in this Friday, June 19, from 12:00 - 3:00 pm to learn more about his work and insight into his artistic process.

Look at these amazing artists and their finished paintings! 🎨✨

Our Acrylic Painting class with Carol Buccilla continues to grow, bringing together both returning students and first-time painters who share a love of learning, creativity, and community.

As Carol says, “We laugh, we are challenged, we are always learning.”

In this recent class, students painted cacti against vibrant backgrounds, allowing warm colors to glow through and bring each piece to life. The results were as unique as the artists themselves!

Interested in giving acrylic painting a try? Whether you’re a beginner or have years of experience, Carol’s welcoming six-week course covers everything from materials and color mixing to foundational techniques and creative exploration.

Creative expression has the power to transform lives.

Currently on view in our Lower Gallery, “The Studio and Beyond: The Wendel Center for Art Education” celebrates the incredible impact of the educational programs offered through DACO and the dedicated instructors who make them possible.

Featured in this exhibition are stories and works inspired by programs like Lisa’s partnership with Lutheran Social Services Faith Mission, where participants are encouraged to discover and explore their untapped artistic abilities through a variety of techniques and mediums. By creating a safe space to reflect, express, and create, these programs help ensure that creative voices are seen and heard.
Join us in celebrating the artists, students, and instructors whose work extends far beyond the studio walls.

🗓 On view now – August 30, 2026
📍 Decorative Arts Center of Ohio
🎟 Admission is always FREE

Come experience the creativity, connection, and community that make these programs so special.

Tucked inside our South Parlor is this beautiful English inlaid mahogany piano forte, crafted by Muzio Clementi & Company in Cheapside England circa 1815–1820.

Muzio Clementi, often called the “father of the piano forte,” was a celebrated composer, performer, conductor, and innovator whose influence shaped the way music was played for generations.

With its elegant design and rich history, this piece offers a glimpse into the musical moments that once filled homes like the Reese–Peters House nearly 200 years ago.

Next time you visit, take a stroll through the first floor and see what other stories you can discover. 👀✨
