Poverty Encounter was born out of a desire to steward stories and experiences with integrity.
When our founder, Dave Phillips, visited partnering local churches, he felt a deep burden to share his experiences and tell the stories of both need and hope.

Poverty Encounter reflects Dave’s commitment to responsibly steward these experiences and share them with others.
At Poverty Encounter, we are dedicated to educating honestly and representing stories and experiences as accurately as possible.

Before Jesus ascended, He gave His disciples the Great Commission: "Go and make disciples of all nations" (Matthew 28). This call urges us to share the gospel’s hope with a world in need.

At Poverty Encounter, we partner with local churches to support this mission by engaging youth groups, families, and individuals in learning about global needs and the gospel.

Poverty Encounter can even help prepare church members interested in short-term missions to know what they might experience in the field.
