The 1932 Auburn 12-160A Convertible Coupe

The Auburn Twelve was perhaps America’s best automobile bargain of the early 1930’s. A stylish and powerful (160 horsepower) Auburn Twelve could be purchased for as little as $1,200 in 1932. While its closest rival, Cadillac, was more than twice as much. This beautiful Auburn is one of only 3 LeGrand bodied 1932 Model 160A Cabriolets that still exists today!

The legendary Duesenberg SJ Engine

One of only 36 supercharged Duesenberg’s ever produced, J-449 remains on display in the Grand Salon. Originally purchased in 1952 as a display engine, this DOHC, Straight Eight, 420cu.in beast has been without a chassis or body for many years.

This SJ engine produces 320 horsepower. In fact, the centrifugal supercharger requires 45 horsepower to operate. It was advertised to be capable of 104MPH (167km/h) in second gear. With a top speed of over 130mph paired with a chassis & body that weighed at least two and a half tons. Performance numbers of the SJ engine were pure domination since its debut in 1932, remaining the most powerful production engine in the world until Chrysler introduced the Hemi, a whopping three decades later.
