From approximately 1815, until its completion just before the civil war, Oaklands was built in four distinct phases for two generations of the Maney family by their enslaved workforce. Later, sold at auction to cover debts incurred as a result of the war, the mansion’s evolution is a demonstration of the adaptive reuse of a structure by multiple families over an extended period. By the 1950s the d

erelict mansion was abandoned and scheduled for demolition. Ultimately, it was restored and transformed into a house museum that serves the community as a cultural and heritage tourism destination. Seven years ago, on June 8, 2019, F***y Maney made her entrance when she walked up to staff members on a hot rainy summer afternoon as volunteers from Rutherford County Archaeological Society,Tennessee excavated Oaklands’ historic root cellar.

Here are some more wonderful photographs by Matt Ferry Media of our Annual Christmas Dinner. The evening was graciously presented by the Halliburton Family. Sponsor and their guests enjoyed a reception inside the mansion complete with appetizers from The Alley on Main and The Hamery and LOLA wine courtesy of The LaRoche Family Foundation. Dinner was prepared by Salty Crew Catering and desserts were courtesy of Simply Pure Sweets. The Quarterlife band played light jazz and Christmas favorites.
