If you missed it, CBS Sunday Morning profiled Philadelphia architect Frank Furness this past weekend. Furness (pronounced like "furnace") is credited with the design of the Old Library in New Castle. Other Delaware Furness projects include the Wilmington Train Station and Recitation Hall at UD.

As the summer travel season gets underway this weekend, we're reminded that New Castle was a vital part of the transportation network in the Mid-Atlantic during the early 19th century as this 1839 broadside suggests. Travel between Baltimore & Philly included a trip on the New Castle - Frenchtown RR as well as a Delaware River steamboat trip.

Our new exhibition, "A Center of the American Experience for 375 Years" is now open at the Arsenal on the second floor! The free exhibit covers four centuries of New Castle history. It's open Thu - Sat, 9:30 am to 4:30 pm and Sun 11:30 am to 4:30 pm.

When you're out and about during A Day in Old New Castle this weekend, be sure to stop in to see it!
