All Street Gallery presents Recalculating route…, a group exhibition curated by Queenie Wu, which brings together artists whose practices challenge the standards of locative media, where value is derived from legibility. The exhibition opens on May 7, 6-8pm, at All Street Gallery’s Chinatown location (119 Hester Street, New York, NY 10002).

Navigation technologies, geospatial platforms, and mapping tools have long promised to make place more accessible, more searchable, more shareable, and more known. But that legibility comes at a cost. The closer in detail a place is mapped, the further it moves from the people nearest to it.

Handmade Interventions is on view through May 9 at All Street Gallery (77 East Third Street).

At a moment when images can be generated, replicated, and circulated at unprecedented speed, Handmade Interventions turns attention to works that insist on the presence of the maker. The exhibition does not frame handwork as nostalgic or anti-technological; instead, it proposes that visible labor functions as a conceptual strategy.

For the month of April, Song Lu’s Things We Do Everyday will be featured on our online viewing room, /virtu.all. Things We Do Everyday is a documentary video work observing the mundane routines of a bustling printing studio in Shanghai, China. Specializing in fine art prints for artists and photographers, the studio becomes a stage where every movement, from the delicate sweep of ink to the rhythmic tapping of tools, is elevated into a quiet choreography of labor and craft. As the camera pans across the space, viewers are invited to witness the printing process with sustained, unhurried attention. The workers’ hands move with practiced precision, creating a visual rhythm that ebbs and flows like ocean waves. This repetition accumulates into a meditative quality, drawing the viewer into a state of still and focused contemplation. Link in bio.
