Dear valued friends:
It is with profound sadness and a broken heart that I share the passing of my beloved daughter, Ugonma E. on April 21st, 2026. Born March 18th, 1973, she lived a life filled with music, faith, service, and love. A graduate of Wesleyan University, she was an accomplished musician whose gifts carried her to stages including, Avery Fisher Hall, Carnegie Hall, and performances throughout the USA, Japan, and Europe.
She dedicated herself to teaching and inspiring children, and persons in need, generously sharing her talents with non profit organizations, including, Hospital Audiences, and shelters serving women in need. Through her company, Onyeentertainment, she brought joy and inspiration to countless audiences. Her music lives on through recordings available across various media outlets.
She was also a proud and devoted member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc (Pi Alpha Chapter), cherishing bonds of sisterhood and service that were so important to her.
Above all, she was a woman of deep faith, who loved God wholeheartedly. Her spiritual life guided her actions, informed her generosity, and shaped the kindness she extended to all she met.
Those who knew her will remember her warmth, radiant smile, beauty, compassion, generosity, and loving spirit. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen, valued, and loved.
Like the eagle whose name she bore, Ugonma soared with grace, strength, and beauty. Though she has taken flight beyond our sight, her spirit remains forever in our hearts.
We grieve her loss deeply, but give thanks to God for the precious gift of her life.
