"These paintings continue my fascination with ephemerality and the sensorial. One significant and distinguishing feature in this current body of work is the absence of brushwork, now replaced by layers of poured paint... My hand-guided brushwork, a decisive element in more recent paintings, was in need of a recharge as other modes of expression felt more urgent. Its elimination signals a shift in vision and embraces a process that encourages unpredictability and chance. It reveals a renewed path of discovery and exploration." -

Drawing from familiar surroundings, such as architecture, interiors, neighborhoods, and everyday objects, these artists reveal how place is both the source and the lens: shaping not only what we see but also how we see where we live.

Arielle Zamora draws on the repetition and symmetry of architecture to explore how spaces can foster feelings of belonging and safety. In his Exurbia series, Steven Baris looks to corporate campuses, distribution centers, and the expanding edges of suburbia, transforming them into diagrams of contemporary life. Denise Regan’s exuberant paintings combine interior space with still life as observations on perception and lived experience. Drawing from the parks and neighborhoods of New York City, Lisa Breslow distills everyday moments into paintings that balance observation with emotional resonance. Charles Ritchie has spent decades observing the world immediately around him, revealing how the familiar can become a source of endless discovery. Sydney Licht’s paintings of discarded bags, boxes, matchbooks, and other everyday refuse take on an architectural presence through their carefully constructed compositions.

On View: D. Jack Solomon

's newest paintings are complex, richly colored geometric abstractions with a debt to Kandinsky and the Bauhaus. His traditional constructive sensibility is infused with personality and wit. Lines and circles create rhythm and movement, while arbitrary geometric forms such as checkered spheres, striped ovals, and architectural fragments float in and out of the canvas, creating visual depth without illusionistic space. Many of these forms seem to develop personalities, conversing across the canvas in a geometric language all their own.

On view May 21st - June 27th. Artist reception is TODAY May 21st, 6-8pm.

On View: Mary Didoardo

builds her oil paintings on panel in accumulated layers, then excavates them. In the resulting compositions, fields of bold color are activated by generous, looping lines that hover between control and release. The lines read as instinctive, but are in fact adjusted, erased, and painstakingly cut into place. The work meanders at the edge of chaos, then settles into balance. That tension between intuition and labor, gesture and incision, is held in the physical presence of the surface.
