Italian American Museum cordially invites you to attend the 23rd Annual Golf Classic Gala Dinner on Thursday, June 25, 2026, 4:30 pm at North Hills Country Club in Manhasset, NY. The evening will feature a special live musical performance by Italian American Jazz Singer Vanessa Racci.

A small museum with a big story sits quietly amid tourist-packed streets

While most tourists flock to Little Italy for cannolis and red sauce, few realize one of the neighborhood’s best-kept secrets is hiding just steps away.

The newly expanded Italian-American Museum at 151 Mulberry St., open Thursday through Saturday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., offers a fascinating glimpse into the immigrants, artists and innovators who helped shape NYC.

Exhibits explore the history, culture and countless contributions of Italian Americans.

The museum, which opened in its current form in 2024 after two decades in the making, features everything from rare Sicilian puppets crafted by immigrants in the early 1900s to exhibits honoring garment workers and legendary Neapolitan comic actor Totò.

Good Morning Italy Presented Its First Issue with an event at the Italian American Museum on Thursday, May 14.

The first issue of Good Morning Italy, the new English-language magazine by the ilNewyorkese network, was presented in New York with an event at the Italian American Museum in Little Italy. The choice of venue was not incidental: founded by Dr. Joseph Scelsa, the Italian American Museum has long worked to preserve the history of Italians in the United States, in one of the neighborhoods that more than any other helped shape the image of Italian immigration in New York. Presenting a new magazine dedicated to contemporary Italy and the Italian-American community there meant bringing together the memory of a historic presence and the attempt to tell what it means today to be Italian, or to feel connected to Italy, outside Italy’s borders.

With profound sadness, the Board of Directors of the American Italian Heritage Museum and Cultural Center announces the passing of Professor Philip J. DiNovo.

Professor DiNovo was the Founder and President of the American Italian Heritage Association and the American Italian Heritage Museum in Albany, New York.

His vision, dedication, and lifelong commitment to preserving and celebrating Italian American heritage shaped our organization and enriched countless lives.

A respected figure in America’s Italian community, Professor DiNovo was also knighted by the Italian Government - an honor that reflected both his cultural contributions and the esteem in which he was held on both sides of the Atlantic.

His legacy will endure in the museum he built, the community he nurtured, and the history he worked tirelessly to preserve. We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and all who were touched by his remarkable life.

The Bloomfield Mandolin Orchestra (BMO), one of five musical groups in the Bloomfield Federation of Music in New Jersey, is a not-for-profit plectrum orchestra that consists of mandolins, a bandurria, mandolas, a laud, a mandocello, guitars and bass. The BMO invites you to attend a concert of the orchestra’s favorite international repertoire from Italy, Ireland, the Philippines, Albania, Mexico, Peru, and Venezuela and Classical music on Saturday, May 16th at the Italian American Museum. The performance will feature the conductor, Enrico Granafei, on vocals.

NYC exhibit honors Italy’s answer to Charlie Chaplin as he gains traction in US decades after death

New York is rolling out the welcome mat for Italy’s greatest comedian, Antonio De Curtis - their version of Charlie Chaplin - with the US debut of “Totò and His Naples.”

De Curtis, also known as Totò, is being celebrated in an exhibition showcasing the Neapolitan comic legend’s nearly 100-film career at the Italian American Museum in Little Italy now through Aug. 29.

“He’s considered in Italy one of the most amazing actors of the 20th century,” Claudio Pagliara, director of the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, told The Post.
