The babies surrounding Jesus in our chapel mural are not angels, but the Holy Innocents. Every saint in the chapel mural is a martyr, like Blessed Stanley Rother. This is true as well of the Holy Innocents.
The Holy Innocents are considered martyrs of the Church because King Herod ordered the deaths of all baby boys in Bethlehem and its surrounding area in an attempt to kill the newborn Jesus. Although these children were too young to consciously choose martyrdom, the Church honors them as martyrs because their lives were taken in an attempt to kill Jesus.

Los bebés que rodean a Jesús en el mural de nuestra capilla no son ángeles, sino los Santos Inocentes. Todos los santos representados en el mural de la capilla son mártires, al igual que el Beato Stanley Rother. Esto también se aplica a los Santos Inocentes.
Los Santos Inocentes son considerados mártires de la Iglesia porque el rey Herodes ordenó la muerte de todos los niños varones de Belén y sus alrededores, en un intento por matar al niño Jesús recién nacido. Aunque estos niños eran demasiado pequeños para elegir conscientemente el martirio, la Iglesia los honra como mártires porque sus vidas fueron arrebatadas en un intento por matar a Jesús.
