The Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine welcomes our new director of development, Vanessa Smith! We are beyond excited to have Vanessa join us at Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine.

Vanessa was born and raised in Oklahoma City and is a proud member of St. Eugene Catholic Church. She and her husband have three children who attend the Catholic School of St. Eugene. Vanessa draws inspiration from Blessed Stanley Rother's unwavering faith and service to the people in Guatemala in her own walk of faith.

A fun fact about Vanessa: Her favorite saint is St. Catherine of Siena. One of St. Catherine of Siena's famous words inspire her daily: "Be who God meant you to be, and you will set the world on fire." She strives to live that calling through her faith, family, and service to others.

Welcome, Vanessa, to the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine team! We are excited to see what her passion and experience will bring to our mission.

¡El Santuario del Beato Stanley Rother da la bienvenida a nuestra nueva Directora de Desarrollo, Vanessa Smith! Estamos muy emocionados de que Vanessa se una a nuestro equipo en el Santuario del Beato Stanley Rother.

Vanessa nació y creció en Oklahoma City y es una orgullosa miembro de la Iglesia Católica St. Eugene. Ella y su esposo tienen tres hijos que asisten a la Escuela Católica de St. Eugene. Vanessa encuentra inspiración en la fe inquebrantable y el servicio del Beato Stanley Rother al pueblo de Guatemala, incorporando ese ejemplo en su propio camino de fe.

We were incredibly blessed to have Blessed Stanley Rother's sister visit the shrine with some friends on the feast of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Sister Marita Rother ASC expressed her joy to be at the shrine, especially in the chapel, where her brother, Blessed Stanley Rother, is buried.
It was a profound moment to welcome someone with such a close relation to Blessed Stanley, and we were beyond grateful for the special visit.

When pilgrims come to the shrine, whether from far or near, it is an expression of devotion and faith. This faith unites us, across all backgrounds and all ages. Though each person is unique, we are all made one through the spirit of pilgrimage. For this reason, all are welcome at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine.

Today the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops will celebrate a historic Mass in Orlando, Florida to consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the year of America's 250th anniversary since the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.

Pilgrims of the shrine in religious life witness to something very special for all visitors, which is the call to a life of self-giving. Self-giving, like that of Christ, which manifested so heavily in the life of Blessed Stanley Rother, is a calling for all Christians, not just those in a habit. By these pilgrims' presence at the shrine, we are reminded of that truth.

Deacon Jim Black joined with Fr. Scott Boeckman at today’s daily Mass to celebrate his 25th anniversary since his deacon ordination!

Deacon Black was ordained in the Diocese of Tulsa by Most Reverend Edward Slattery, and is currently assigned as deacon at the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Harrah.

Deacon Black helps at the shrine frequently by reposing the Blessed Sacrament weekly after adoration in the chapel.

Thank you Deacon Black for all your help and service to the shrine, and happy 25th anniversary!

This pilgrim of the shrine not only met Blessed Stanley Rother, but worked alongside him in Guatemala.

John Anderson, a doctor originally from Oklahoma City, but visiting the shrine for the first time from Minnesota, worked as a doctor with Blessed Stanley in Guatemala in the mid 1970s. John is now a primary care physician, but while in Guatemala held the title as Director of the Emergency Room at St. Anthony's Hospital. Today, he joined for daily Mass and spoke with Monsignor Wolf.

John's presence at the shrine reminds us all not only of the impact that Blessed Stanley had on those in his life, but it also reminds us how recent and close to home Blessed Stanley's life story is for all people of faith, especially here in Oklahoma.

Este peregrino del santuario no solo conoció al Beato Stanley Rother, sino que también trabajó junto a él en Guatemala.

John Anderson, un médico originario de Oklahoma City que visitó el santuario por primera vez desde Minnesota, trabajó como médico con el Beato Stanley en Guatemala a mediados de la década de 1970.
