An honor to present this new series with 33 Contemporary Gallery. Grateful to see New Zip Code take shape through this thoughtful curatorial vision and to the Palm Beach Art & Design Showroom for opening space for this conversation!

33 Contemporary Gallery is pleased to present New Zip Code, a solo exhibition by Cuban-American artist Arlet Gómez.

On view June 5–30, 2026, the exhibition will be presented inside the beautiful Palm Beach Art & Design Showroom in Lake Worth Beach, Florida.

New Zip Code explores childhood, imagined cities, migration, and the spiritual longing for eternal dwelling places through Gómez’s textured contemporary visual language. Created through layered surfaces of oil and acrylic, the works bring together neo-expressionist brushwork, impressionistic light, and symbolic architectural forms that speak to memory, displacement, faith, and the search for belonging.

Throughout the exhibition, children appear as dreamers—figures of imagination, hope, and spiritual resilience—while embedded toy soldiers from the artist’s childhood in Cuba emerge as symbolic antagonists. Houses, castles, boats, and imagined cities become emotional and spiritual structures, fragile yet full of longing.

The exhibition also includes an installation of minimal wooden structures inspired by digital wireframe models, extending Gómez’s imagined architectures into the gallery space and inviting visitors to move through a psychological landscape of memory, vulnerability, and hope.

Please join us for the opening reception honoring the artist:

An Ekphrasis JOURNAL presented as a gallery work (9 × 6.5 in, oil-based materials on paper, leather cover), created through a collaborative dialogue between visual art and poetry by Denise Marsh and myself. The work engages ideas of dialogue, tactility, and interdisciplinary response. We are grateful to the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County and curator Jessica Ransom for including this piece in The Short List exhibition and for beautifully placing it within this venue
