Get creative in honor of AAPI Heritage Month, May 16-18 at CMTM!
💌 Pass the Postcard: Collage & Identity Featuring Guest Artist Annika Johnston in celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, May 16 & 17, 10 am - 12 pm. For Annika, AAPI Heritage Month celebrates the intersection of many special cultures and she will be highlighting collage to “represent the layering and overlapping of different heritages that result in a person's unique identity.” Johnston recognizes that those who identify as AAPI have probably traveled far or are descendants of those who have travelled, immigrated or migrated to their current homes. Postcards, a symbol of global connection, allow participants to share art and stories with those near and far. Blank postcards, curated clippings, images, and stamps will be available to visitors to create and share their own stories.
🔖 Korean Hangeul Calligraphy and Hanji Art Bookmark Making, May 18, 10:30 am - 12 pm. Special guest Hyeri Yoon, from the Korean Language School, will lead a bookmark workshop featuring Hangeul calligraphy and Hanji, a traditional Korean handmade paper made from mulberry bark. Learn to write meaningful words, such as peace and kindness, or your own name, and decorate with colorful Hanji mosaic paper.
