PENNY LANE, Beatles Museum is the brainchild of a long time Dunedin resident and humanitarian who considers the time is right to share his eclectic collection of Beatles memorabilia covering several decades dating back to 1961...from Yellow Submarine paraphernalia to Beatles puppets and pins. This exhibit of Beatles memorabilia is curated by Colin Bissett who grew up in Liverpool, England, where

the Beatles started, and who enjoyed seeing performances at the Cavern Club and the Casbah Coffee Club in the early sixties before they became a world-wide phenomenon.

The doors will open soon. We're close. And yes, it's going to be fun!
For forty years, this collection lived wherever it could: in cabinets, in careful boxes, in one fan's devotion.
Now, it’s getting a home worthy of it.
Just one block off Central Avenue.

Did you get it right? 🦅 The Inside Story:
Talk about a legendary studio hangout! Right after wrapping up their chaotic 1965 North American tour—and just hours before catching a flight back to London—Paul McCartney and George Harrison dropped by Columbia Recording Studios on Sunset Boulevard. They were invited by their former publicist, Derek Taylor, to watch The Byrds record their cover of Bob Dylan's "The Times They Are A-Changin'."

George snuck in first, but when Paul arrived in a limo pursued by hordes of screaming fans, the entire recording session ground to a halt so the two bands could just hang out and talk shop. This mutual admiration directly shaped music history—the jangly folk-rock sound of The Byrds heavily inspired the guitar styles heard on the Beatles' Rubber Soul album later that year!

🎸 THE BEATLES IN HISTORY TODAY 🎸

On August 29, 1966, The Beatles took the stage at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park for what would become their final ticketed concert.

John, Paul, George and Ringo reportedly knew this might be their last tour appearance, but the fans did not. They closed the evening with “Long Tall Sally,” bringing an unforgettable chapter of Beatlemania to an end.

Although the band would later perform together on the Apple Corps rooftop in 1969, Candlestick Park marked their farewell to touring—and the beginning of an extraordinary new era of studio creativity.

✨ From the roar of the crowd to the records that changed music forever, The Beatles’ story continued—but the touring years ended right here.

Were you lucky enough to see The Beatles perform live?

Did you get it right? Bobby was a long-haired dachshund owned by John Lennon and his first wife, Cynthia, during the early 1960s. While John Lennon is famously remembered as a "cat person" who owned dozens of felines throughout his life, Bobby was one of the few dogs he personally bonded with during the height of Beatlemania. Let us know how you did in the comments! 👇See you next Tuesday for another round of Beatles trivia!
