Please join us this Thursday for the artwalk, and the opening of June T Sanders' Prairie Psalm.

Prairie Psalm is a song of recent contact prints and sculptural supports. Rather than images bent towards concept, theory, or narrative these works stem from a devotional practice of erotic & collaborative image making — made over the course of a year from rural northwest Montana to the Olympia Peninsula to the great Palouse prairie.

Working against both documentary impulse & representational clamor — they move to offer up a more viable creative scaffolding: The capacity of the image to carry us. Forms that swell. They stem from a rural heart and a rustic & steady hand – landing in gesture, ritual, and spirit. The image of the tr*******al, the divine, the bucolic are muddled together and made from discarded and salvaged materials: wood, film, pencil, stars.

June T Sanders is an artist and educator living in the hills of rural Eastern WA. Her work has recently been shown at Solar Noon, Candela Gallery, Alfred University, and the University of Arkansas — and has been featured in Vice, High County News, The British Journal of Photography, and Are.na Annual, among others. She is also a curator, a sauna mistress, a baseball coach.
