Join us for a Behind the Scenes Tour of the Irene Hall Museum Resource Center on Thursday, July 16th at 2 p.m.

Looking for something to get you ready for the Sioux Falls Airshow next weekend? Come to the Behind the Scenes Tour to view artifacts in our collection relating to airplanes and even a local legend from the airshows of the 1930s! Mickey “Bat Man” Morgan was one of the main attracts for years with his airplane acrobatics and a suit that allowed him to soar in the sky. These featured items, as well as all the others you will see, will highlight how the staff cares for these objects and preserves our communities history. The tour is on July 16th at 2:00 pm at the Irene Hall Museum Resource Center. This tour is about an hour long and costs $5 (cash only) per person. To register call 605-367-4210.

Into the Pit Quarry Tours are back in July and August!

Climb aboard and take a trip with the Siouxland Heritage Museums Into the Pit of the Knife River quarry this summer! Into the Pit quarry tours return July 21, and 28 and August 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, and 27 at 9:30 a.m.

All bus tours will depart from the Irene Hall Museum Resource Center at 4300 N. Westport Avenue. Tours are free and guarantee payloads of interesting information. The museum staff will share a historical perspective, and the Knife River staff will discuss the current techniques used in modern quarrying. Reservations are required, and tours fill up quickly. For ages 12 and up. Those wishing to attend must call (605) 367-4210 to register. Only 5 spots per reservation please!
