Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Vincent Siqueiros and Cameron Capara, who were senselessly murdered early Monday morning. While details are still being released, the shooting outside Tucson’s Venture-N, an LGBTQ+-friendly establishment in Tucson, is being investigated as a hate crime.

Identity-based hatred and violence harm all of us. They undermine our sense of safety and security and threaten the bonds that we work hard to build. We stand in solidarity with those feeling fear, anger, and heartbreak in this moment and we pledge to help build a safer community.

Please join us, along with our friends and colleagues at Tucson Queerstory, Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, and Southern Arizona Senior Pride, for a community vigil in their names.

Poll workers make voting possible and help ensure that voting stays secure, accessible, and accurate for everyone in our community. It's paid, nonpartisan work that most people are eligible to do (in Arizona, you just need to be 16).

We believe democracy depends on people showing up, not just on Election Day, but in the work that makes every election possible. That's why several TJMHC staff members have already signed up to serve as poll workers this season, and we're inviting you to join us.

Tucson Jewish Museum & Holocaust Center is honored to join Faith in Fair Elections, a national Jewish community campaign to defend democracy during the midterms.

As an institution built on remembering the consequences of unchecked power and eroded trust, we believe supporting healthy democratic systems is part of our mission, not separate from it. Yesterday was International Day of Friendship, a fantastic opportunity to think about the friendships that reach across religion, culture, and background. Tucson has a real history of different communities showing up for each other, and here at TJMHC, we are grateful every day for the partnerships we have built with organizations across the city who share our commitment to civic engagement, social justice, and standing against hate.

Friendship across difference is not just a nice sentiment; it is part of what keeps a community strong. We are ever thankful for the friends and partners who work alongside us.

Sunday, July 26, from 3 – 4:30 PM at Prince Chapel AME Church

Join Arizona Faith Network for a powerful, hands-on service opportunity as we come together across communities to pack Heat Relief Bags for those most vulnerable to Arizona’s extreme summer temperatures. This interfaith event is open to all who want to help protect lives and show compassion in action.

This event will include community-building, light refreshments, and the chance to pack bags that will be distributed through AFN’s network of Heat Relief Sites and outreach partners.
