On Sunday afternoon, July 26th at 2:00 pm, the Historical Society of Harrison County will commemorate (what would have been) James "Jimmie" Best's 100th Birthday. Events include a film fest showing clips from Best's films and T.V. appearances as well as an exhibition of paintings by Best. Attendees are invited to bring memorabilia and memories of Jimmie Best to share with the group. The event will be held at 245 Atwood Street at the Harrison County Government Center (Formerly Harrison County Hospital). *Note change of location due to construction at Harrison County Community Foundation. Remembering Bill Thompson

On this date, we remember legendary voice actor Bill Thompson, who passed away on July 15, 1971.

While many people may not recognize his name, Disney fans have enjoyed his unforgettable performances for generations.

Bill brought to life beloved characters including Mr. Smee in Peter Pan, the White Rabbit and Dodo in Alice in Wonderland, Jock in Lady and the Tramp, King Hubert in Sleeping Beauty, Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore in the Humphrey Bear cartoons, Professor Owl, and Uncle Waldo in The Aristocats, his final Disney role.

Outside of Disney, Bill was also the original voice of Droopy, one of animation's most beloved cartoon characters, and entertained radio audiences for years as a cast member of Fibber McGee and Molly.

Fifty-five years after his passing, his voice continues to bring smiles to Disney fans around the world.
