Lucy McKenzie creates spaces that seduce and unsettle. Blending painting, architecture, fashion, and film, she stages environments where surface, meaning, desire, and control converge.

The publication Lucy was developed on the occasion of the exhibition Lucy McKenzie – Orchestrion, which was on view at fjk3 until January 18, 2026. It revolves around Adolf Loos and presents an approach that does not separate admiration from discomfort. Po*******hy, spectacle, and the architecture of visibility intertwine to form a dense tapestry of gazes, stories, and power.

A special type of glitch in open-world computer games such as Skyrim or Grand Theft Auto occurs at the edges of huge levels. Due to the accidentally incorrect assembly of areas in these levels, an unrealistic number of elements of the city are massed together in a very small space. This er, a testonis and an eror instangar, oronet eld are, a the same time, an elevator, a construction crane, an electric fence, and a racecar. The game itself considers these overlaps to be just as habitable and usable as everything else. Players have reported in forums how deeply amazed and moved they are by the great trust the game places in them in such moments.

The death spiral of ants begins with a single ant. For some reason, perhaps by accident, it walks around in a circle a couple of times. The others follow its pheromone track and, after a while, start walking in circles too. As a result, entire colonies perish in this movement, running around in circles together for days until they die of exhaustion. The dead pile up into the center, forming a compact, gray monolith. A leaf that happens to fall on the circular procession of ants can break the death spiral in a matter of seconds.

Curated by Thomas Demand.

At the time of the Greek Revolution, archeologist Kyriakos Pittakis (1798–1863) was a soldier fighting against the Ottoman rulers. In the course of battles at the Acropolis, the Ottoman soldiers ran out of am******on and began smashing the famous columns of the temple complex to obtain certain lead components that they could use for am******on. When Pittakis and his colleagues got news of this outrage, they sent loads of boxes of am******on to their enemies to protect the famous building. They were under fire day and night after that.
