Oh look! There's the Old Bridge House Museum. It is on the model of Dumfries made by Dalbeattie Men's Shed and on display at Dumfries Town Board
Visit the real thing, the oldest surviving house in the town, Monday to Saturday 10-5 or Sundays 2-5.

We welcomed a school group to Dumfries Museum today.
They were out and about in the town following the Medieval Bruce trail. They visited areas connected with Robert the Bruce's time in Dumfries and came into the museum to see our Greyfriars and Medieval Castles and Warfare displays. This includes bones believed to be those of the Bruce and a cast of his skull.
They seemed to really enjoy thrir visit and we were very pleased to see them. And the weather was good enough for a Camera Obscura presentation too...what could be better?

At the end of Refugee Week, we remember Dr Werner Kissling (1895-1988). His family lost everything as a result of World War Two and the involvement of his brother, Georg Conrad, in the Stauffenberg Conspiracy, July 1944.
Although perhaps not technically a refugee, Werner Kissling never felt able to return to Germany after the N***s came to power. He found a home and a place of refuge in Dumfries and many people remember him with affection in the town.
As a photographer and ethnographer, Kissling worked closely with museum curators Alf Truckell and David Lockwood for decades. This photograph of Werner was taken by David in the museum gardens.
We are so pleased to have a new display about his life and works in Dumfries Museum, a place where he was 'part of the furniture'.

We've been so pleased to welcome lots of groups to our 'Celebrating GirlGuiding in D&G' exhibition. On Wednesday, we had a large group of Brownies, some of whom did their Promise Ceremony, followed by groups of Guides and Rangers.
The exhibition runs until September. Free to visit during museum opening times Monday to Saturday 10-5, Sundays 2-5.
