By road:
Discovery Point is on Riverside Drive, just off the northbound slip-road of the Tay Road Bridge. All other entry routes should follow signs for ‘city centre’ but Discovery Point is clearly signposted throughout the
city. By rail:
Dundee is on the main

East Coast line and railway station is directly opposite Discovery Point. By bus:
Most buses from Fife stop at Greenmarket which is just at the side of the railway station so only two minutes’ walk to Discovery Point. If you are coming from Forfar, Discovery Point is a short walk from the
High Street. All buses from Perth, Blairgowrie and Coupar Angus stop at Debenhams, outside the Overgate shopping centre. Discovery Point is just minutes away from any city centre bus stop. Car Parking:
There is short-term pay and display parking adjacent to Discovery Point. For other parking you can use the Greenmarket multi-storey car park (sat nav DD1 4QB) or either the Gellatly street car park (sat nav DD13RB) or the Olympia car park (sat nav DD1 3JU).

🦐 Did you know that the Royal Research Ship Discovery (1901) here in Dundee is the first in a line of four ships to have carried the same name?

The fourth generation of RRS Discovery (2012) sails the globe to this day, undertaking vital scientific research, using data from our RRS Discovery's 1925 Expeditions as benchmarks.

Our current exhibition, '100 Years of RRS Discovery' invites you to explore life aboard four generations of RRS Discovery, to discover the range of roles involved in ocean exploration, and to dive into the Discovery Investigations carried out on our ship a century ago 🌊

"Sea" 100 Years of RRS Discovery at Discovery Point & RRS Discovery until 13 September 2026. You "whaley" don't want to miss this exhibition! (Enough ocean puns for now?)

🤿 Extraordinary tales brought from the seabed to the surface

you can now get up close to Shackleton's famous shipwreck - the Endurance - like never before, here at Discovery Point & RRS Discovery!

Thanks to a collaboration with our friends at the Falklands Maritime Heritage Trust, we're delighted to be displaying an incredibly accurate 1:29 scale model of the Endurance shipwreck, here in Dundee.

⚓ Seeing details like the helm bring another dimension to the inspiring legacy of bravery, shown by the Endurance officers and crew. And if you don't know the story, what better way to delve into it than seeing the wreck in 3D right before your very eyes!

🪵 We're intertwining Dundee's historic industries as we conserve RRS Discovery!

North American pitch pine beams salvaged from a Cox's mill store on Burnside Street, Lochee, will be given a new life aboard RRS Discovery; being used in the conservation and repair of the ship's bulwarks, thanks to a collaboration between Dundee Historic Environment Trust (DHET), George Martin Builders, Hillcrest FB, JPS Restoration & Consultancy Ltd (JPS) and Historic Environment Scotland.

This exciting project acts as an example of how city-wide collaboration can continue to preserve tales from bygone Dundee and integrate them into the city's future, by making a physical connection between two historical structures that are embedded in the heritage of the city.
