Michael Taylor (1979) is an abstract painter, who currently lives and works in Cape Town, South Africa. Taylor holds a Master of Fine Arts from Stellenbosch University and has since exhibited in solo and group shows across South Africa, Australia, The Netherlands, the UK and USA.

Taylor mimics the immediate and expansive nature of the drawing process in order to develop scenes and characters in his painted work. Removed from its purely observational qualities, drawing becomes a projection of the artist’s intuition, imagination and memory. Representational and figurative elements in Taylor’s paintings create narrative frameworks that are unravelled to varying degrees through abstract marking.

Anne Griffiths | A Tale Worth Telling

📍31 Dundas St. Edinburgh EH6 3QQ

A Tale Worth Telling is the new solo exhibition by Canadian painter Anne Griffiths, consisting of 10 new paintings completed during the spring of 2026 at the artist’s studio in Victoria, British Columbia. It is the first solo show at The Finch Project’s new Edinburgh gallery.
As with all her work, colour remains the point of departure. Griffiths begins each painting by mixing a single hue, often with prolonged deliberation - until it feels right. That colour becomes the anchor, the tone to which every subsequent mark must respond. The compositions are built on the spaces between things. Griffiths’s approach to structure is informed by her background in graphic design, where negative space served as a primary organising principle. She reads a forest or shoreline similarly, attending to intervals rather than discrete objects. This emphasis on spatial relationships enables the work to function simultaneously as abstraction and landscape, maintaining a productive tension between the two.
