We are about to enter the final week of our June exhibitions, featuring work from Chris Bushe RSW, Philip Archer OBE and Nerine Tassie.

Pictured here, one of the many collected items by Philip Archer, a Cathie Pilkington maquette. A fish basket set against a faint Ikebana arrangement, which represents heaven, earth and humanity (ten, chi and min). Ikebana means 'to give life to flowers'.

Archer's aim is to give life to nature morte by encouraging the viewer to absorb, question and recognise the evoking of ideas, mood, atmosphere and expression.

Alongside Chris Bushe's iconic scenes of the Scottish landscape. In 'Earth, Water, Fire and Air' Chris combines this work with images from the Greek Islands, a place he similarly returns to over and over.

From the shifting tones of Aberdeenshire in autumn and winter to the intense light and colour of the Greek islands in summer, the paintings in this exhibition are rooted in direct experience, moments where atmosphere, memory and place seem to merge.

Primarily Nerine's paintings are an exploration of the mystery of nature within this subject matter, and she has always sought to create a strong sense of atmosphere within each piece.

Her approach is a combination of the observed, experimental and the imagined, she uses a variety of layering techniques within her work both in terms of physical mediums and digital compositional work.
