COLIN MAXWELL BRYCE | “…as I see it…”

Edinburgh artist and photographer Colin Maxwell Bryce returns to Dundas Street Gallery for his exhibition, “…as I see it…”.

Now 81, Colin has spent a lifetime immersed in art and design. Having studied at Edinburgh College of Art in the 1960s, he went on to teach art at Portobello High School before pursuing a distinguished career at Edinburgh Napier University, where he became Head of Design and later Dean of Arts and Social Science.

His latest exhibition brings together a fascinating collection of photographic images that invite us to look again at the world around us.

From the weathered surfaces of boat hulls and the delicate beauty of fading flowers to the colours, textures and unexpected patterns found in everyday surroundings, Colin has an eye for finding the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Often bordering on abstraction, his work explores the relationship between photography and art, revealing compositions that might otherwise go unnoticed.

The opening event will be held on 9 July between 6pm and 8pm. Come along and meet the artists.

The Scots word CUIR means to cover, protect, or shelter. It often appears in poetry or older literature in reference to shielding from the elements. In this time of climate change, it seems an appropriate title. It can also mean to heal, or mend, as a regional variant of the standard English word 'cure'.

The Aizle Artist Collective consists of 7 artists who have distinctive yet complementary styles, creating a range of imaginative and fascinating artworks.
