Immerse yourself in Journey to the Great Below on its opening day as artist Chitra Ganesh and Senior Curator Emma Dean take you on a special tour of the exhibition, uncovering artworks and sharing inspirations. Chitra's work spans animation, drawing, sculpture, painting and mixed media and includes a newly commissioned sculptural work and site-specific wall drawing.

Head to our Level 6 between 3pm-10pm on Sat 4 July to experience a one-day only Rooftop Cocktail Lounge with stunning views & sensational cocktails. Plus, from 3 pm-8pm Weezy Pop will be launching a new product range designed for, and exclusive to, Baltic – meet the makers, glimpse new designs and maybe take a charm away with you. Milly Thompson’s work poses the question: What is considered high art? 🎨

Inspired by Japanese woodcuts and the idea of perfection, which is prominent in the art of Bonsai tree-sculpting, artist Milly Thompson utilised almost garish, bright colours and emojis in direct contrast to the presentation of Bonsai trees as constrained and forced into certain shapes, symbolising the way women’s bodies are subjected to a single viewpoint of perfection.

We're inviting applications from local North East-based artists and creatives, whether you’re a self-taught hobbyist or have studied in the past, to be a part of an exhibition of 100 works at Baltic.

This year we also launched the Youth Open Call, supported by , an opportunity for 11-17 year olds to get involved.

No formal training, qualifications, or exhibiting experience necessary and entirely free to enter.
