Introducing: Dave 'PizzaBoy' Breen 🍕
A resident artist, painter and muralist, Breen is a self-taught visual artist working primarily in oil. With a love of 90s and 00s pop culture, his work formed in street art before finding its way into the studio, where he’s spent years quietly refining his approach and working across a range of mediums - including oil-paints, hand-drawn lettering, screen printing, and purpose-built sets.
Breen’s paintings are built around mood and memory rather than fixed stories. Late nights, empty roads, and in-between moments are ever-present. He creates scenes that feel familiar without being specific, like a nostalgia for memories you didn’t know you had. This openness keeps the work fluid and personal, blending raw energy with considered technique. Dave “PizzaBoy” Breen lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland.
His first solo exhibition, Reverie In Red, explores a fascination with nostalgia as a feeling rather than a memory. A longing for a moment that feels familiar but may never have been lived. The work draws from cinema, literature, music, and popular culture, reflecting on how they linger both in the collective imagination and in our personal history through studio work that brings together oil painting, installation, and photography.
Reverie In Red, is available to visit from Thursday 9 April - Wednesday 22 April at The Alchemy Experiment.
