Introducing: Dave 'PizzaBoy' Breen 🍕

A resident artist, painter and muralist, Breen is a self-taught visual artist working primarily in oil. With a love of 90s and 00s pop culture, his work formed in street art before finding its way into the studio, where he’s spent years quietly refining his approach and working across a range of mediums - including oil-paints, hand-drawn lettering, screen printing, and purpose-built sets.

Breen’s paintings are built around mood and memory rather than fixed stories. Late nights, empty roads, and in-between moments are ever-present. He creates scenes that feel familiar without being specific, like a nostalgia for memories you didn’t know you had. This openness keeps the work fluid and personal, blending raw energy with considered technique. Dave “PizzaBoy” Breen lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland.

His first solo exhibition, Reverie In Red, explores a fascination with nostalgia as a feeling rather than a memory. A longing for a moment that feels familiar but may never have been lived. The work draws from cinema, literature, music, and popular culture, reflecting on how they linger both in the collective imagination and in our personal history through studio work that brings together oil painting, installation, and photography.

Reverie In Red, is available to visit from Thursday 9 April - Wednesday 22 April at The Alchemy Experiment.

SWG3 resident and visual artist Dave 'PizzaBoy' Breen presents his first solo exhibition, ‘Reverie in Red’: an exploration of nostalgia as a shared emotional landscape rather than a fixed personal past, that brings together oil painting, installation, and photography.

The exhibition explores Breen’s fascination with nostalgia as a feeling rather than a memory. A longing for a moment that feels familiar but may never have been lived. Drawing on fragments of culture, cinema, and music, Dave ‘PizzaBoy’ Breen creates scenes that feel instantly familiar yet impossible to place. The works linger in the space between memory and imagination, evoking moments that may never have existed, but feel as though they almost did.

The exhibition will be available to visit from Thursday 9 April - Wednesday 22 April at The Alchemy Experiment at 157 Byres Road.

✨ New exhibition announcement ✨

We are delighted to announce April will be bringing her Beneath The Noise exhibition to the Zinc Bar, launching on Thursday 4 September 2025.

Taking inspiration from Janice Galloway's words, April's work reflects the textures of Glasgow: the post-industrial spaces, the city centre’s pulse, the quieter corners where life unfolds. They are also rooted in the intimate daily rituals that define a creative life here, one breath at a time.

The exhibition opens in the Zinc Bar on Thursday 4 September at 6pm-10pm – and we’d love for you to join us there - please RSVP to [email protected] if you can make it along.

If you can't make the opening, the exhibition will be open to the public from Friday 5 September until Friday 17 October. (Mon - Fri, 10am till 6pm).
