Storm approaching - Marske beach
Based on a photograph I took a couple of years ago.
I just loved the way that the headland was bathed in sunlight - very soon to be smothered by the storm.
When you’re on the beach and this is coming at you, there’s no shelter. We got absolutely soaked about 5 minutes after I took this.

For now, I’m doing the same scene twice - one in watercolours and one in acrylics.
For me, doing the 2 paintings together, has been a really helpful process. It’s the same image in paint - but a completely different way of going about it.

My exhibition is near to the - and, as I’ve been known to paint trains before, it seems logical that my subject is just that.

Happy New Year!
Well that’s another one gone. Thanks to everyone that helped me out and supported me in 2025.
I only did 6 of these but I could’ve easily done another 2 dozen more - apologies if you didn’t get one. There had to be a cutoff point.
I’ve been asked to do some painting lessons in 2026 - just one to ones for now, and early days yet, but it could develop into something bigger. Let me know if you’d be interested in joining in. Watch this space.

And I couldn’t leave without a bit of a nod to one of our greatest musicians, who we sadly lost before Christmas. And my favourite song from the big man.
