The Big Love Show and Book Launch 15.02.2025
5 - 10pm
Hyde Park Book Club

Join us at the launch of BIG LOVE on the 15th of February from 6pm for a PV, artist’s talk with George Storm and the team, readings and live performances, followed by a Big Love Party with resident beauty DJ Subaru playing tunes in the Snug until 10pm.
This event is free, all welcome, bring your love, reading glasses, or your dancing shoes!

The BIG LOVE exhibition hosts 30 artists and the BIG LOVE BOOK expands the exhibition with a further 50 contributors into a veritable tome of art, prose and poetry in all imaginable forms - kept and treasured in this anthology as something possibly or impossibly sexy.

Available for purchase at the launch - The BIG LOVE book is a beautiful forever publication, full of LOVE - yours for £25.

An enquiry of this kind only makes sense when it’s shared with others - so join us and our artists and writers to reflect on the theme and tickle a curious understanding of love and loving at this moment.

Big love from George Storm and the HPAC team x o x

TO SEE THE EXHIBITION 👀
..which, by the way, it's only one part of the BIG LOVE project, which explores the meaning of love in an expanded form. The other part is the BIG LOVE Book, a repository and long-lasting device that captures what love is in this present moment. An enquiry of this kind only makes sense, when it’s shared with others - for this reason, the works were selected through the BIG LOVE open call. The contributors reflect on the theme and tickle a curious understanding of love and loving.

So, let us show you our bleeding, beating or bestill hearts: through drawings, print, photography, poetry, sculpture and prose - Works that are love letters in the broadest sense. ... and yes - Love is most frequently used for the lovers, but BIG LOVE presents sycophantic, friendship-based and inanimate object revolving loves, as well as those that live and breathe close to us.

The exhibiting artists are:
George Storm Fletcher, Emily Eve, Ellie Andrews, Yvonne Baines, Helen Beard, Ellen Burroughs, Astrid Butt, Shauna Cribbin, Charlotte Saint Cullen, Eleanor Dunn, dogman, Maddie Exton, Hannah Guy, Samantha Killinen, Jun Rui Lo, Emilia-Rose Manship, Jill McKnight, Cole Pallett, Julia Pomeroy, Alice Parsons + Harriet Cash, Milly Recci, Dulcie Rhodes, Cal Rutter + Robin Stones, Claudia Sambo, Connor Shields, Sunshine Child, Islay Wolstenholme and Amelia Frances Wood.

WE DID IT

This is a BIG thank you post.

£3k+ fundraised for , thanks Marc for sharing with us your experience as a Doctor without Borders
.kaur_ your work is incredible, we are flattered and grateful for your trust and support to this initiative

Leeds artists, creatives, friends, new friends, babies (so many babies yesterday!):
💫YOU ARE INCREDIBLE
This is all you, showing up and sticking together for each other.

What a great celebration, we have seen family, chosen families and friends but also new people coming together powerfully behind a common cause, standing strong on very clear, shared values. No one is free until everyone is free. Free Palestine 🇵🇸.

Our hearts barely kept it together when we got to chat with folks that came to the event yesterday for so many different reasons. Quite few people, of course, were just too big fan of Art in Ruins and and came along to check us out too. Hopefully we kept the bar as high as them! Thank you again for being amazing, supportive partners.

Of course, everyone came for the headliner: HARMONY CHOIR . Thank you for warming up with resistance songs - actually-not-so-much-carols 💪 and the warmest soul

Thanks for helping to organise the show, and for all install and design things, for the MOST WANTED deluxe wrapping in Leeds, Hala for the info on BDS and all the amazing material (available at the book club if you want to pick up a leaflet), behind all stunning framing, for saving the day with digital designs, the steering group .tsionki (and those already mentioned) with special support by Book Club Benny, for remote support, for sisterhood, the team for being so helpful, .saqfalhait for the preparatory chats.

Hole In The Ground Radiates Trans Joy (006.1) by , WHAT A JOY ❤️‍🔥

Claye Bowler is an artist based in Yorkshire. His practice centres on collection and documentation of experience, memory and the remnants of humanity. Bowler uses sculptural practices to highlight stories that are not historically collected through institutional means, often working with narratives of queerness and disability. Whilst also working in museum registration, Bowler often incorporates, yet questions, the ethics, administration and aesthetics of museum collecting in his work.
Bowler has a strong connection to sound and music, increasingly integrating these elements into his work, using field recordings and traditional British folk song.

Recent work includes solo exhibition Dig Me A Grave (2025), shown at Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Auction House, Cornwall, and WIP Space, London.
His exhibition 'Top' was also shown in 2025 at Q***r Britain, previously shown at Henry Moore Institute, Leeds (2022)

His performances have been presented at Tate (2023) and as part of Yorkshire Sculpture International (2021). Group exhibitions include Haarlem Artspace (2025), Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2022), Attenborough Arts Centre (2022), and Ugly Duck (2022). He has undertaken residencies with the CoLab (2025) Yorkshire Sculpture Park (2024), Porthmeor Studios (2024), and with Jerwood Arts at Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange (2023).

He was recipient of ACE DYCP Grant (2023) and Jerwood New Work Fund (2023), ACE Project Grant (2024), Henry Moore Foundation Art Award (2025) and Henry Moore Foundation Grant Funding (2025)

His work is held in public collections: Arts Council Collection, Wellcome Collection, Otherness Archive, and Leeds Art Gallery.
