As the sun sets this Bank Holiday weekend, here in the Dee Valley we are still under the magic of Calan Mai, the traditional start of the Welsh summer. To celebrate this season of renewal, we are delighted to announce our upcoming event: Between Moss and Myth.

This summer, the Dory Gallery explores the deep connection between the Dee Valley landscape and its ancient legends. We are delving into the folklore rooted in our soil, from the magical properties of native flora to the ancient spirits of the river.

Join us for:
New artwork inspired by Welsh lore, including Helen Rossetti Ceramics interpretations of the enchanting mystical tales.
Creative workshops linking myth with local plants, herbs and trees.
Simon O'Rourke - Tree Carving finding joy in the very wood he carves.
And discover more hidden stories shaped by our valley.

Full details on workshop dates and guest artists will be shared soon.

Whether you are a regular or a first-timer, the atmosphere is always welcoming and focused.

This is an untutored, very supportive group with beginners and practising artists sitting side by side in a welcoming circle.

Upcoming Dates:
April: 27 April
May: 11 May, 18 May
June: 1 June, 8 June, 15 June, 22 June, 29 June

We look forward to seeing what you create.

Mandy Wilkinson is one of many exceptional artists currently on display at our gallery in Llangollen.

Based in North Wales, Wilkinson is a celebrated abstract artist whose striking canvases focus on the pure interplay of line and colour, resulting in compositions that are both modern and intuitive.

Across our eight exhibition spaces in the historic old schoolhouse, we are dedicated to showcasing the very best in contemporary art. We invite you to visit us on Regent Street to experience Mandy Wilkinson's work and discover the wider range of talent we are currently hosting.

The Dory Gallery in Llangollen is proud to host a vibrant exhibition of work by Shrewsbury-based artist Jill Leventon.

Working from her Shropshire studio, Jill specialises in the intricate arts of enamel and metal forming. Her process is one of experimentation and precision, utilising sifting, wet laying, and high firing to achieve the rich, luminous colours that define her style. Each piece is a testament to the alchemical nature of her craft, as she manipulates metal and glass to create striking, unique forms.

Jill’s inspiration is drawn from the structures and earthworks found along the Welsh-English border, capturing the subtle shifts in texture and tone found in both the natural and man-made world.

Call into the gallery in Llangollen to see these remarkable pieces for yourself.

Saturday 21st March Poetry Recital.
We are delighted to invite you to a very special event at the Dory Gallery, Llangollen, celebrating the evocative work of local poet and artist, Jan Wallis.

Join us from 3pm to 4pm, when Jan will be sharing a curated selection of her writings from the last five years. This period has been one of immense creativity and reflection, and these poems offer a profound window into her evolving journey.

Adding a unique layer to the afternoon, Jan will perform in front of a stunning backdrop of her own visual artwork. This immersive experience promises to weave together the lyrical and the visual, providing a rare insight into how her two creative worlds inform and inspire one another.

Ever wondered what it’s really like to try oil painting?

Get a front-row seat with Bernie Bakari (yes, from Sky Portrait Artist of the Year!) on Saturday 14 March 2026. This isn't a stiff art class—it’s a relaxed, creative session from 10:00–13:00 where Bernie explains the process, the jargon and gets everyone to actually paint!

For £60, we’ve got all the messy stuff covered (paints, brushes, canvases—the lot). You just show up, enjoy some gentle learning and leave with your very own masterpiece!

Stuck for a Mother’s Day gift? This is way better than another box of chocolates.

Call 01978 860311 or email Suzanne at [email protected] to grab a spot for you or your loved one, and we'll get painting together!
