Wroxeter Roman City

Wroxeter Roman City Journey back in time for a glimpse of life as it would have been 2,000 years ago Wroxeter (or 'Viroconium') was the fourth largest city in Roman Britain.
(227)

Though much still remains below ground, today the most impressive features are the 2nd century municipal baths and the remains of the huge wall dividing them from the exercise hall in the heart of the city. Visitors to the site today can also explore the new Roman Town House, constructed as part of Channel 4’s TV series ‘Rome Wasn’t Built in a Day’.

Thinking of our Dave today.
On this day last year we lost a very special friend and a wonderful volunteer.
We took this photo this morning of his favourite view at Wroxeter, from an area on site which we have lovingly named "Dave's spot".

The sun even showed up in his memory ☀️
We send our love and thoughts to Dave's family.
