Part of a group known as the Scottish Colourists, Samuel John Peploe (1871–1935) was a Scottish Post-Impressionist painter. Peploe is best known for his still life paintings, depicting fruit, ceramics, and flowers. His early works were darker, while later works show flatter, more vibrant compositions with increased abstraction.
