Museion is much more than a simple container of artworks, it is an international laboratory for research with an interdisciplinary focus. At the centre of its activites is its own collection, which co-exists with temporary exhibitions. The cubic form of the building is visually striking, with the transparent front facades offering a dialogue with both parts of the city. A link between the historical center and the new part of the city is achieved via two parallel bridges with oscillating curves, which cross over the river in front of the museum. The bridges form an integral part of the architectural project. Adjoined to the museum is an atelier house to host artists. At night the museum offers passers-by a stunning view when the facades double up as screens for the projection of video artworks.

“Nei sotterranei” (1966–67) by Franco Vaccari documents writing and graffiti on the walls of public restrooms and basements, filmed as spontaneous examples of found poetry.

Private spaces within public environments become places of refuge, where anonymous forms of poetry can emerge. The film accompanies the artist’s book “Le tracce” (1966), which brings together contributions from countless anonymous “authors” who break the silence of these walls to express desires for liberation from social and sexual repression.

Further developed over the following years, the project is presented at Museion through a selection of photographic collages.

“Which Italian opera is your favourite? Madame Butterfly or Turandot? Can you describe their stories for me?”

Fabio Cherstich’s reflections begin with a conversation that the artist Evelyn Taocheng Wang included in her painting Sweet Puccini Opera and Imitation of Agnes Martin (2026). Cherstich, the director, set designer, and curator, who staged Turandot at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo in 2019, together with the artistic collective AES+F, and who also designed the set for Madama Butterfly there in 2024, explores the issues involved in “describing the stories” of these operas. In his essay, which weaves together stage experience and historical analysis, these narratives emerge as opaque, layered constructions that are inexorably influenced by Western cultural constructs.

Day 3 of Museion Art Club – Dream / Traum / Sogno concludes the program with a focus on care, autonomy, and practices of resistance across art, politics, and sound.

Curated by Macao, Saturnalia, and Landscape Choreography, the day presents ARCHIVIARE L’INGOVERNABILE, a publication dedicated to Macao as a political space and autonomous context for artistic production and self-organised practices, published by NERO Editions.

The program opens with a public discussion on Care & Economy, followed by a convivial dinner conceived as an artistic format. Day 2 of Museion Art Club – Dream / Traum / Sogno opens with the inauguration of “Gritar, No Caer” by Francesco Fonassi, a permanent sound installation supported by the Italian Council (DGCC, Italian Ministry of Culture) and entering the Museion collection. Born from research in Mexico’s “Zone of Silence,” the work explores landscape as an energetic and symbolic field, where sound becomes a way of perceiving what is usually unseen or unstable.

Later, inside the environment “Sogni n.1” by Franco Vaccari, Francesco Fonassi and Luisali Theisen present a live performance that activates the exhibition as a space of real-time transformation.

At the end of the performance, a limited number of participants will be able to spend the night inside the museum and share their dreams the following morning.

28.05.2026 — Day 2

18:00 — Inauguration of Gritar, No Caer
20:30 — Live performance (limited capacity)
23:00 — Overnight experience (upon reservation via link in bio)

On May 27 we meet at Cubo Garutti, currently hosting a work from the ongoing exhibition Memory in Motion by Eduard Habicher.

From there begins Dream / Traum / Sogno, a three-day journey by Museion Art Club moving through city, landscape, and museum—where walking, listening, gathering, and performing become shared ways of being together.

27.05.2026 — Day 1

15:00 — Gathering at La Rotonda / Cubo Garutti
15:30 — Introduction & presentation of participating groups
16:00 — Collective walk towards Orti Semirurali Intercultural Garden
(a slow procession carrying food prepared by La Rotonda, turning the passage itself into a collective gesture of sharing and care)
16:30 — Community gathering & collective weaving practice
(questions, voices, and responses passed along a shared thread, gradually forming a collective web and a cyanotype imprint shaped by presence and time)
18:30 — Closing

A slow opening into shared presence—through encounter, exchange, and moments of conviviality that unfold along the way.

Participation is free and open to everyone. We look forward to seeing you!

This Sunday, from 10 AM to 6 PM, enjoy free entry at Museion and a full day of art, play, and shared experiences for all ages inspired by the theme Museums Uniting a Divided World.

For this year’s International Museum Day, the museum transforms into a space for encounter and collective creativity through The Painting Game by – a participatory work where painting becomes a social experience shaped by chance, intuition, and interaction. The day also includes storytelling sessions for children in Italian and German, Art Speakings, and short guided tours throughout the museum.
