"Leaving feedback instead of a tip. 🧊 This barbecue joint got a $0.00 tip alongside a handwritten note telling them to 'clean your ice machine.' When you experience a genuine cleanliness or quality issue at a restaurant, do you leave a note on the receipt, talk to a manager, or just tip less?"

In most places, a $20 tip would be more than fine. But what happens when the bill is expensive?
If your dinner costs $100, is $20 still a good tip? What if the bill is $200, $300, or even $500?
Should the tip stay at $20 because the service was the same, or should the tip increase because the bill increased?
What do YOU think? Is a $20 tip always reasonable, or should expensive meals automatically mean a bigger tip? 👇

Three of us enjoyed a beautiful dinner, and the food subtotal came to $286. Then the restaurant added a $57.20 service charge—but none of it went to the staff. 😳

My friend left only a $1 tip and said, “I already paid 20%.” The server looked disappointed, and the table suddenly went silent.

Who was wrong here: my friend or the restaurant? 🤔

Idc what anybody says but this is not convenience.
I just paid $24.99 delivery + $6.99 service fee + $5 tip for food that took 90 minutes and arrived cold. I could have cooked and showered in that time.

🍽️💰 Tipping expectations seem to be getting louder these days.

More restaurants are putting up signs explaining tipped wages, with some taking a pretty blunt approach:

“If you can’t afford to tip, you can’t afford to dine out.”

The intention may be to remind customers that servers depend on tips, but does wording like this actually encourage people to appreciate their service—or does it make dining out feel pressured?

Where do you stand: helpful information or too much pressure? 🤔👇

WHEN DID TIPPING BECOME SOMETHING WE’RE EXPECTED TO DECIDE BEFORE THE SERVICE EVEN STARTS? 🤔💰

Let me be clear—I absolutely believe restaurant workers deserve fair pay, respect, and appreciation for the work they do. When someone provides outstanding service, I’m happy to show my gratitude. ❤️

But here’s the question: Why should customers be asked to choose a tip amount before they’ve even received their food, been served, or experienced the service?

To me, a tip should reflect the actual experience. If the service is excellent, I’m more than willing to reward it. But shouldn’t that decision happen after the service has been provided?

A gratuity should feel like a genuine “thank you,” not something customers feel pressured to agree to upfront.

What do you think? 👇
Should tipping be decided after the meal, or is it reasonable for restaurants to ask for a tip before service begins?

🍽️💵 It’s easy to understand why tipping has become such a heated and frustrating subject.

A tip has traditionally been a way to say “thank you” for good service—to recognize the effort, attention, and hospitality that made the experience enjoyable. It was something customers chose to give based on the service they received.

But when automatic gratuities, extra fees, and constant tipping prompts become part of the experience, that choice can start to feel more like an obligation.

Servers deserve to be appreciated for their hard work, and excellent service should absolutely be recognized. At the same time, customers should have the freedom to decide what tip reflects their personal experience.

Tipping should be about appreciation—not guilt, pressure, or feeling forced. A gratuity means more when it’s genuinely given as a thank-you. 🤔👇

🍽️💵 Two guests, a nice dinner, prime rib, w**e, and smooth service from beginning to end.

The total came to $101.92. An 18% service charge was already included, with the bill clearly stating that the charge was not a gratuity.

Even with no complaints and positive feedback throughout the meal, the tip line was left completely blank.

That’s the part that makes you stop and think.

From the guest’s perspective, everything seemed to go great. But when the check was settled, there was no additional recognition for the person providing the service.

When someone is earning only $2.13 an hour in base wages, tips can make a major difference in their take-home pay.

It raises a bigger question: If the service is excellent and everything goes smoothly, should a tip still be expected after a separate service charge?
